MOH sick leave notifications go digital, faster and paperless

The Ministry of Health has introduced an electronic system that automatically notifies an employee’s direct supervisor when the employee is granted sick leave, making the process faster and reducing paperwork.

Under the new procedure, the MOH ESS system sends the notification directly to the employee’s responsible supervisor after sick leave is recorded. This means the supervisor and relevant department do not have to rely on the employee submitting or physically delivering paperwork to inform the department of the leave.

The electronic notification allows the concerned department to know about, view and follow up on the employee’s sick leave through the system. This is intended to make administrative procedures quicker and help departments manage staff attendance and leave more efficiently.

The move is part of the Ministry of Health’s wider effort to expand electronic services for its employees and replace traditional paperwork with digital procedures. For employees, the main change is simple: once sick leave is recorded through the Ministry’s electronic system, the employee’s direct supervisor is notified electronically.

Health sources said the system is also intended to improve coordination between employees, supervisors and administrative departments by ensuring that sick leave information reaches the responsible party promptly.
