Kuwait authorities shut down restaurant after spoiled and expired food items found

Joint inspection campaign records multiple violations at restaurants and cafes, says Ministry of Interior

In a campaign launched by the Ministry of Commerce in cooperation with the Food Authority and the Ministry of Interior, a restaurant in the Capital Governorate was shut down after spoiled and expired materials were discovered.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in coordination with the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition and the Ministry of Interior, recently carried out a joint inspection campaign on a number of restaurants and cafes in the Capital Governorate, which resulted in the detection of a number of violations, according to the Ministry of Interior.

The Ministry of Commerce said in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency on Saturday that the campaign resulted in recording six reports, including the absence of a price list, conducting promotions without a license, failure to use the Arabic language, in addition to violations related to meat lists and charging additional fees.

It explained that a warning was also issued for failure to comply with the regulations for the sale and distribution of energy drinks.
