Iranian FM likely to arrive in Islamabad tonight: Pakistan Radio
The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi is likely to arrive here in Islamabad on Friday night along with a brief delegation, said state-owned Radio Pakistan.
The state-run media quoted government sources as saying that following important discussions held by Pakistan’s mediation team, the second round of Islamabad peace talks between Iran, and the United States is expected soon. They further said that a US logistics and security team is already present in Islamabad to facilitate the negotiation process.
The announcement comes shortly after Pakistan and Iran on Friday discussed ongoing diplomatic efforts during a phone conversation between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar and Araghchi.
The conversation comes at a time when Pakistan is trying to hold a second round of ‘Islamabad Talks’ between the US and Iran as President Donald Trump accepted the request of Pakistani Premier Shebaz Sharif to extend the ceasefire to allow ongoing diplomatic efforts to take their course. – Kuna
