Indian Doctors Forum marks glorious 20th anniversary

Since its establishment in 2004, the Indian Doctors Forum has consisted of expatriate Indian doctors in Kuwait. From the beginning, the forum has focused on humanitarian activities like organizing medical camps, blood donation drives, awareness programs, speeches, and seminars.

The association’s philanthropic efforts primarily focus on assisting the underprivileged regardless of their nationality. Its outstanding contributions during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic have been particularly noteworthy.

Along with its humanitarian activities, the Forum also organizes sociocultural events, the biggest and most cherished of which is ‘Docfest’.

This year’s event was graced by His Excellency, the Ambassador of India, Dr. Adarsh Swaika. Among the guests were Sheikha Dosari, His Excellency the Ambassador of South Africa, and His Excellency the Ambassador of Serbia, as well as secretaries and officials from the Indian embassy, along with many eminent persons and dignitaries.

The evening began with the national anthems of Kuwait and India, followed by a recitation of the Holy Quran. After Dr. Ashok Deb, the Joint General Secretary, delivered the welcome speech, Dr. Diwakara Chaluvaiah, the President of the Indian Doctors Forum, explained the forum’s role. He expressed gratitude to all the general members, executive committee members, and office bearers for successfully launching the event despite challenging circumstances.

The Guest of Honour, His Excellency the Ambassador of India, extended warm greetings to the forum members and encouraged them to continue their philanthropic activities. He emphasized the crucial role of doctors in society and expressed his belief that such noble works would strengthen the bilateral ties between India and Kuwait.

Dr. Fibisha Nidal expressed her pleasure to all the guests, dignitaries, and members of the Indian Doctors Forum. Following that, the 19th issue of the Health Guide of the Indian Doctors Forum was released by His Excellency the Ambassador of India. The topic for this year is “Travel Medicine.” Dr. Radhakrishna Panicker, the chief editor, expressed his satisfaction with successfully composing the book, which will serve as a very useful health guide for all.

Dr. Ramesh Pandita, a hematologist, was felicitated on stage for achieving an exceptional landmark of receiving an award in his name from the Ministry of Health for his outstanding work in the field of hematology.

This year, the theme of Docfest was “Glory of Ancient India.” A group of highly skilled professional classical artists from Prabhath Kalavidaru in Bangalore, along with the members and families of the Indian Doctors Forum, presented a mesmerizing Dance Drama titled “Bhavya Bharatha Katha,” showcasing the Glory of Ancient India. Their performance was witnessed and cheered by a large audience that completely filled the Badriya Auditorium. The group was awarded a memento for their outstanding presentation.

The Indian Doctors Forum expressed optimism about launching additional socio-cultural events in the future.
