GTD issues over 3,100 citations, arrests 10 wanted expats, seizes 26 vehicles

A nationwide traffic enforcement campaign launched by the Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector resulted in 3,141 traffic violations being issued for the past 24 hours, while authorities also arrested wanted persons and impounded dozens of vehicles from those who committed serious offenses.

According to official statistics, 10 expatriates were arrested for staying in the country after expiry of residency permits and referred to the relevant security authorities.



Three individuals were placed in traffic detention for 48 hours, while 26 vehicles were impounded for 60 days after their owners committed serious traffic violations.

Truck-related offenses topped the list with 286 violations, followed by 125 citations for using mobile phones while driving.

Authorities also recorded 60 violations for illegal window tinting, 59 radar-related offenses, 15 cases of speeding and reckless driving, and 12 violations for causing excessive vehicle noise. An additional 2,340 miscellaneous traffic violations were also issued.

The campaign also targeted areas around public hospitals, where traffic officers issued 195 citations for illegal parking and obstructing traffic. Five vehicles were impounded for deliberately blocking traffic and will remain in impoundment for 60 days.

Among healthcare facilities, Al-Jahra Hospital recorded the highest number of parking and traffic violations, followed by Al-Adan Hospital and Jaber Hospital.

The Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector said inspection campaigns will continue as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety, enforce traffic laws, and reduce dangerous driving behavior across the country.
