Kuwait, Oman, UAE joint operation bust drug smuggling operation
Five liters of liquid crystal meth seized
Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has announced personnel from the Directorate-General for Drugs Control have foiled an attempt to smuggle a quantity of liquid crystal methamphetamine (shabu) into the country, in a joint security collaboration anti-narcotics authorities from Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
The ministry said the operation was carried out under the framework of security cooperation among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and was based on intelligence sharing and intensive field surveillance.
The operation led to the arrest of a suspect who was caught red-handed in possession of approximately five liters of liquid crystal meth.
The security authorities said this could have been processed into nearly 15 kilograms of crystal meth for trafficking inside Kuwait.
The suspect, along with the seized contraband, has been referred to the competent authorities to complete legal proceedings.
The Ministry of Interior said the successful operation underscores the effectiveness of Gulf security cooperation in combating drug trafficking and reflects the continued success of proactive intelligence-led efforts to track narcotics networks, disrupt drug manufacturing and distribution operations, and protect society from the dangers of illegal drugs.
