Kuwait is experiencing very hot and dusty weather as strong northwesterly winds continue to affect the country, reducing horizontal visibility in several areas, particularly in open and desert regions, the Meteorological Department said.
Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Dharar Al-Ali, said the weather conditions are being driven by a surface low-pressure system accompanied by a very hot air mass.
Light to moderate northwesterly winds, with speeds ranging between 15 and 55 kilometers per hour, are occasionally becoming active, stirring up dust across parts of the country.
The blowing dust has significantly reduced visibility in some locations, especially exposed areas, while also causing sea waves to rise to as much as six feet.
Al-Ali noted that wind speeds are expected to ease during the latter part of the day, allowing dust to gradually subside and visibility to improve.
Despite the expected improvement in dust conditions, temperatures will remain extremely high, with daytime highs forecast between 47°C and 48°C, while nighttime temperatures are expected to range between 33°C and 35°C.
The Meteorological Department advised the public, particularly motorists in affected areas, to exercise caution due to reduced visibility and urged seafarers to remain alert to rough sea conditions.
