The interior ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states reaffirmed that Gulf security is inseparable, and underscored the need for stronger coordination among interior ministries and security agencies following the arrest of several members of ‘cells’ linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The emergency meeting was held at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh and was chaired by Bahraini Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.

GCC Secretary-General Jassim Al-Budaiwi also attended the meeting. Kuwait’s delegation was headed by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef.
During the meeting, ministers reviewed the regional security situation and discussed ways to strengthen joint Gulf security coordination in response to ongoing regional developments and attacks targeting GCC countries.
The ministers emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between interior ministries and relevant authorities across the Gulf to confront threats against the security and stability of GCC states, address the repercussions of current events and intensify efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms.
The ministers also praised the efforts of Gulf security agencies in uncovering and dismantling the cells, saying the successful operations reflect the high level of efficiency, vigilance and preparedness of GCC security services in safeguarding regional stability and protecting Gulf societies from emerging threats.
