Etihad, Qatar Airways to resume Kuwait and Bahrain flights from August 8

Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways to resume flights to Kuwait and Bahrain from Saturday, August 8, as Gulf airlines continue restoring regional services following weeks of disruption caused by heightened security concerns and airspace restrictions.

Etihad Airways said it would restart scheduled passenger services to Kuwait International Airport (KWI) after a suspension of nearly three weeks and Bahrain International Airport (BAH).

According to the airline’s flight schedule, Flight EY653 to Kuwait is scheduled to leave at 8:25 a.m. UAE time on Saturday and Flight EY643 to Bahrain will depart Abu Dhabi at 3:40 p.m. UAE time.

The Abu Dhabi-based carrier had suspended flights to both destinations in mid-July, citing operational reasons amid escalating regional tensions. The disruption followed security incidents that affected air travel across parts of the Gulf.

Etihad’s Bahrain services were suspended from July 16 after an aircraft heading to Manama was forced to return to Abu Dhabi following the temporary closure of Bahrain’s airspace. The return flight from Bahrain to Abu Dhabi was also cancelled.

Flights to Kuwait were suspended during the same period as regional developments led to widespread disruptions in aviation services.

Meanwhile, Qatar Airways announced the resumption of flights to Kuwait and Bahrain, and Erbil from August 8, restoring connectivity to key destinations across the Gulf and the wider region.

The Doha-based airline said scheduled services to Kuwait International Airport (KWI), Bahrain International Airport (BAH), and Erbil International Airport (EBL) would restart as part of efforts to rebuild its regional network.

The return of services is expected to provide more travel options for passengers travelling for business, tourism and family visits as regional aviation operations gradually return to normal.

Passengers of both airlines have been advised to check the latest flight schedules and travel updates before travelling, as timings may be subject to change.

While Etihad and Qatar Airways are restoring services, some airlines had maintained operations throughout the disruption. Regional carriers including flydubai and Air Arabia continued daily flights to Kuwait and Bahrain, while Emirates remains suspended on both routes, according to its latest flight information.
