GTD to launch e-vehicle license plate replacement service via Sahel App for lost plates

The General Traffic Department is preparing to launch a new electronic service through the “Sahel” application that will allow citizens and residents to apply for replacement vehicle license plates in cases of lost plates.
A security source said the service, which is currently in its final preparation stages, will enable vehicle owners to submit applications online without the need to visit traffic departments during the initial phase.
Applicants will be able to upload the required documents in PDF format, complete the procedures, and pay the applicable fees electronically through the application.
After receiving the application, the Traffic Directorate will review the submitted information and verify that all requirements are met.
Once approved, applicants will be notified through the application to visit the license plate factory at a specified date and time to collect their new plates.
The new service aims to simplify procedures, reduce processing times, ease congestion at customer service centers, and improve the overall quality of government services.
The source noted that the initiative builds on a series of digital services introduced by the General Directorate of Traffic in recent years, supporting the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to enhance government performance and expand the use of modern technology.
Regarding users who are unable to download or access the “Sahel” application, the source clarified that the GTD continues to provide paper driving licenses and booklets for those who prefer them, while also making these documents available digitally through the “Sahel” and “Huwayti” applications.
