Electricity demand surge and heat triggers power outages
Parts of Kuwait experienced power cuts today, Wednesday, due to an increase in electricity demand and high temperatures. The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy issued a statement explaining the situation.
The Ministry attributed the power cuts to the inability of power plants to keep up with the increased demand for electricity during peak hours. The Ministry noted that temperatures are also significantly higher than usual for this time of year.
In order to safeguard the stability of the electricity grid, the Ministry is taking precautionary measures, including scheduled power cuts of up to two hours.
The Ministry also urged all customers to conserve electricity during peak hours, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This will help reduce the load on the power grid and hopefully prevent further unplanned outages.
