“Connect-IT” exhibition, Italy’s vision to bridge cultures and landscapes

The Connect-IT exhibition, organized by the Embassy of Italy in Kuwait in collaboration with the Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST), showcases Italy’s innovative contributions to connecting people, cultures, and landscapes. Curated by Professor Tullia Iori and guided by Spazio Taverna, the exhibition invites visitors to explore the artistic and scientific aspects of structures that unite communities, histories, and geographies. Through this event, attendees gain insight into Italy’s unique ability to create connections that shape our world, blending culture, engineering, and design to inspire and enrich global interactions.

The exhibition is structured around five thematic capsules: landscape, cities, history, heritage, and borders. Each capsule highlights how Italian infrastructure, both historic and contemporary, has masterfully combined practicality with aesthetic beauty. At the entrance of each section, writer Emanuele Trevi’s evocative texts create a narrative that ties the infrastructure to Italy’s cultural memory, portraying its pivotal role as a bridge between history and modernity.

Furthermore, the exhibition features works photographed by Luca Campigotto, showcasing 25 groundbreaking Italian projects from the past decade. These include bridges, innovative urban designs, and expertly restored historical buildings, all reflecting Italy’s distinctive approach—blending environmental consciousness, human-centered design, and innovation. Each thematic capsule is enriched with immersive multimedia elements, such as video projections by Gabriele Gianni and custom soundscapes by Michelangelo Lupone, offering visitors a multisensory experience that deepens the emotional impact of the displayed works.

The exhibition concludes with a sixth capsule showcasing the contributions of Italian companies abroad. These projects highlight Italy’s ability to export its expertise, combining its rich heritage of craftsmanship and innovation with a global outlook. At its essence, “Connect-IT” explores the significance of connection in a globalized world, emphasizing infrastructure as not just a driver of economic growth, but also as a bridge for cultural dialogue, the preservation of historical legacies, and the creation of a sustainable future.

The exhibition reminds us that Italy’s approach to infrastructure goes beyond technical achievements, presenting architecture and engineering as expressions of creativity, humanism, and national identity.
