Kuwait prepares for emergencies amid heavy rainfall forecast
Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan chairs meeting of Rain and Flood Repercussions Committee

Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan stressed Thursday the importance of strengthening preparedness, monitoring and coordination among the relevant authorities to ensure a swift response to rainwater accumulation during heavy rainfall and emergency situations.
Chairing a meeting of the Rain and Flood Repercussions Committee, attended by committee members and representatives of concerned agencies, Dr Al-Mashaan called for continued coordination and rapid action in response to any developments during periods of rainfall.
The meeting reviewed the preparations and work plans of participating agencies for the rainy season, along with the readiness of field teams, equipment and machinery at various locations. Officials also reviewed weather forecasts for the coming period, which indicate that rainfall during October, November and December could exceed normal averages, requiring authorities to step up their level of preparedness.
Dr Al-Mashaan was briefed on efforts to clean rainwater drainage inlets and networks, the readiness of pumping stations, and procedures for dealing with areas vulnerable to water accumulation. The meeting also discussed the responsibilities of participating entities, coordination mechanisms, and emergency plans and procedures for addressing the repercussions of heavy rainfall.
