MOI says suspects were selling subsidized water cards meant for private tanker use

The Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of three Asian nationals accused of illegally trading in water refill cards issued by the Ministry of Electricity and Water.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the operation was carried out by the General Department of Criminal Investigation, represented by the Department for Combating Counterfeiting and Forgery Crimes. One of the suspects was also found to have an arrest warrant issued against him in an absentee case.
The ministry stated that authorities received information indicating that the suspects were involved in the illegal sale and circulation of water refill cards. After verifying the information and completing the necessary legal procedures, security personnel arrested the accused in possession of 250 water refill cards, in addition to a large number of collection receipts and bank transaction documents.
The Ministry of Interior explained that the suspects were selling water refill cards allocated to individuals and companies operating water tankers for their own use, noting that the water supplied through these cards is subsidized by the state and not intended for commercial resale.
The ministry added that the necessary legal measures have been taken against the accused, who were referred to the competent authorities to complete investigations and take further action.
