
The UAE’s Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) confirmed on Sunday that a fire at an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, caused by a drone strike, has had no impact on the facility’s safety or operational readiness.
In a statement carried by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the authority emphasized that there has been no release of radioactive material. It noted that radiological safety levels remain within normal parameters, posing no risk to the public or the environment. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The authority is continuing close coordination with the plant operator and the relevant authorities to verify all aspects of the incident and to confirm the continued integrity and readiness of plant systems, it pointed out.
The plant was designed and licensed and is operated in accordance with the world-class standards of nuclear safety and security in a way that ensures the safe production of electricity under all circumstances, according to the statement.
FANR urged the public to rely solely on official sources for accurate information and to refrain from sharing unverified reports or rumors.
