Trump names commentator Katie Zacharia new White House Press Secretary

US President Donald Trump has appointed conservative commentator Katie Zacharia as the next White House press secretary, making her the sixth person to hold the position across his two administrations.

Zacharia, 42, currently serves as a senior communications adviser at Trump Media & Technology Group, which operates the Truth Social platform. She previously worked briefly as a spokeswoman at the Department of Homeland Security earlier this year.

Trump described Zacharia as loyal and a strong supporter of his Make America Great Again movement, saying he was confident she would work effectively with the media, the American public and his administration.

Zacharia has long been active in Republican politics and is a regular guest on conservative television networks, including Fox News and Newsmax. She previously worked at the White House Office of Political Affairs during the George W. Bush administration and served as general counsel for conservative nonprofit Fix California.

She will succeed Karoline Leavitt, who left the White House in August. The press secretary is responsible for communicating the administration’s positions, briefing journalists and coordinating media relations.
