SOLACHEY enters Kuwait’s lighting market with flagship showroom in Shuwaikh

Ambassador H.E. Paramita Tripathi praises the Indian community’s spirit of solidarity as Chetna Jolly launches a lighting brand inspired by her father’s long-held ambition and her family’s generations-long connection with Kuwait.

A father’s dream, nurtured for more than two decades, has become a reality in Kuwait, as Indian entrepreneur Chetna Jolly inaugurated the flagship showroom of SOLACHEY, a lighting products brand, in Shuwaikh Industrial Area on Sunday evening.

The inauguration, attended by Indian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Paramita Tripathi, prominent members of the Indian community, business representatives and other guests, marked a milestone for Jolly and her family as they introduced their brand to Kuwait’s competitive lighting market.

Congratulating Jolly on bringing the venture to life, Ambassador Tripathi expressed pleasure at attending the inauguration and wished her and her family continued success. She also expressed hope that the showroom would become a welcome addition to the local business landscape.

Ambassador praises community solidarity

The ambassador used the occasion to highlight the strength of the Indian community in Kuwait, praising its spirit of solidarity, mutual support and togetherness. She noted that the community stands by its members in moments of celebration as well as during difficult times.

The turnout at the opening, she said, reflected the close bonds within the community and the cooperative spirit that continues to support Indians living and working in Kuwait. She also reaffirmed the Indian Embassy’s commitment to supporting the community, encouraging collaboration and helping individuals and businesses pursue their ambitions.

Turning a father’s ambition into reality

For Jolly, however, the opening carried a deeper personal meaning. SOLACHEY represents the fulfilment of a dream her father had cherished for more than 20 years but was unable to realise during his lifetime.

An electrical engineer by profession, her father arrived in Kuwait in 1974 and later ventured into business. Among his ambitions was to establish a brand of his own. His passing left that vision unrealised, and Jolly said she did not initially have the experience needed to take the project forward.

Rather than abandon the idea, she spent the next 15 to 17 years building her professional knowledge, gaining experience and developing an understanding of the business before taking steps to establish SOLACHEY.

The flagship showroom is the culmination of that journey, transforming a long-held family ambition into a business venture and giving Jolly the opportunity to bring the brand’s lighting products to customers in Kuwait.

Alongside the personal story behind the brand, Jolly highlighted product quality and regulatory compliance as important considerations for the business. She said SOLACHEY’s products meet applicable Gulf conformity requirements and carry the G-Mark certification.

The company has undertaken conformity procedures for products sourced from manufacturing markets including China, India and Türkiye, reflecting its focus on meeting the requirements applicable to electrical products entering the Kuwaiti market.

Jolly also acknowledged the encouragement and support she has received from the Indian community throughout the journey. As a third-generation member of her family to grow up in Kuwait, she said the country holds a special place in their lives.

Her grandfather and father both lived in Kuwait before her, making the country an integral part of the family’s story across generations. “Kuwait is our home,” she said, expressing gratitude for the opportunities the country had given her family to settle, work and build a future.

The opening of SOLACHEY’s flagship showroom is therefore more than the launch of a retail outlet. It brings together a family’s entrepreneurial legacy, one woman’s determination to carry her father’s ambition forward and the support of a community with which her family has shared a long connection.

With its new showroom in Shuwaikh Industrial Area, SOLACHEY aims to establish a presence in Kuwait’s lighting market, drawing on family experience, product development and a commitment to serving customers in the country.
