“Social Affairs Ministry” dissolves 13 public benefit associations for violations

The Ministry of Social Affairs announced the dissolution and liquidation of 13 public benefit associations, stating that these organizations had clearly violated laws and regulations and had not played an effective role on the ground for several years.

The Ministry confirmed in a press statement that these associations failed to hold periodic general assemblies, or submit the required financial and administrative reports. This lack of compliance necessitated the decision to dissolve and liquidate the associations in order to enhance transparency and ensure that organizations remain committed to their societal mission.

The Civil Society Administration conducted a thorough study of these associations, which revealed that their activities had become nonexistent. Additionally, the associations failed to provide tangible community services or achieve the goals for which they were originally established.

The Ministry also indicated that the associations affected by the decision were involved in various activities in the cultural, health, and social fields. However, they violated Article No. (27) of Law No. (24/1962), concerning clubs and public benefit associations, which mandates that associations fulfill their legal obligations and engage in actual activities that benefit the community.

Furthermore, the Ministry emphasized that it had given these associations ample opportunities to rectify their situations, issuing repeated warnings and official notices. However, they failed to respond or take any meaningful action to address their violations, making their continued operation untenable.

The Ministry stated that these decisions are part of its continuous efforts to develop the civil work sector and strengthen its role in driving community development.

Moreover, the Ministry concluded its statement by reaffirming its commitment to monitoring the performance of civil society organizations and rigorously enforcing the law against any entity that violates regulations or neglects its responsibilities. This ensures that resources and efforts are focused on effective organizations that meet their objectives and contribute to serving the nation and its citizens.
