Senegal Ambassador Visits The Times Kuwait, Highlights Strong Bilateral Ties and Emerging Opportunities
His Excellency Assane Sougou, Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to the State of Kuwait, paid a courtesy visit to The Times Kuwait offices, where he met with Editor-in-Chief Tareq AlShumaimry and Executive Editor Reaven D’Souza.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the longstanding and friendly relations between Senegal and Kuwait, which have flourished for more than five decades through close diplomatic cooperation, development partnerships, and people-to-people exchanges.
Both sides emphasized the importance of further strengthening economic, trade, investment, and cultural ties between the two countries. Senegal remains one of Kuwait’s closest partners in West Africa, benefiting from extensive development cooperation and shared interests in regional stability and sustainable growth.
Ambassador Sougou also highlighted Senegal’s growing economy, describing the country as a strategic gateway to West Africa. Senegal’s economy is driven by services, agriculture, fisheries, mining, and the rapidly expanding oil and gas sector, while ongoing reforms continue to attract foreign investment and enhance the business environment.
The ambassador further underscored Senegal’s rich tourism potential, pointing to its vibrant culture, historic heritage, Atlantic coastline, wildlife reserves, and renowned hospitality. Tourism remains an important contributor to the national economy and employment.
The visit reaffirmed the commitment of both Senegal and Kuwait to deepening cooperation and fostering greater understanding between their peoples through dialogue, investment, and cultural exchange.
