Probe launched into citizen’s death in hospital amid social media claims
The Ministry of Health stated that the patient, suffering from a chronic illness, was to be transferred to a specialized hospital for better care, but the family rejected the recommendation.
In response to reports on social media regarding the death of a citizen in a hospital—following claims that he was not in his room where he was receiving treatment—the Ministry of Health announced that official authorities are investigating the incident, according to Al Qabas newspaper.
The ministry explained in a statement that the patient was suffering from a chronic illness, and “it was decided to transfer him to another specialized hospital that could provide the best care and necessary treatment. However, the recommendation was rejected by the family.”
The ministry further stated that the medical team and nursing staff in the ward continued to provide the required medical and therapeutic care based on the patient’s health condition. After it was reported that he was not in his hospital room, the relevant authorities were immediately notified, forming joint teams for investigation. They later discovered that the patient had been found dead.
The investigation is ongoing through the official authorities, and the circumstances of the incident are being determined, with prayers for mercy and forgiveness.
