Kuwait determined to crack down on price hikes as Eid Al-Adha approaches
Instructions have been given to officials to intensify field campaigns over the next three weeks to protect consumer during the seasonal surge in demand -- Al-Ansari

As Kuwait prepares for the busy Eid Al-Adha shopping season, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has stepped up its regulatory efforts to ensure market stability, price control, and the uninterrupted availability of goods and services for consumers.
Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, recently met with officials from regulatory departments across Kuwait to coordinate monitoring campaigns in local markets ahead of the festive period.
In a press statement, Al-Ansari said instructions have been given to officials to intensify field campaigns over the next three weeks to protect consumer during the seasonal surge in demand.
He explained that the campaigns will target a wide range of commercial activities, including central markets, retail clothing outlets, and women’s salons, which traditionally witness increased customer activity ahead of Eid celebrations.
According to Al-Ansari, the ministry’s monitoring teams are operating under an integrated regulatory framework designed to combat unjustified price increases and ensure compliance with commercial regulations.
He urged the public to report any violations or suspicious practices, emphasizing that prompt reporting enables authorities to take the necessary legal and administrative measures without delay.
Officials say the objective is not only to stabilize prices but also to ensure that citizens and residents have access to sufficient supplies of essential goods and services during Eid Al-Adha.
