Funnel cake is a regional sweet food popular in North America, which can usually be found at fairs, carnivals and in theme parks during summer. These cakes are made of a simple pancake batter. But you do not need to visit the US and try out the fare at a country fair, you can make it right at home.

Preparation and cooking time : 20 to 25 minutes
Serving : 4-5 people

For the Batter:
1cup all purpose flour
2tbsp powdered sugar
3/4 tbsp baking powder
1 tbsp yogurt
Pinch of salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 salted butter(melted)
1 cup milk (or as required)

*For Black Grape Sauce:
1 cup black grapes(washed and half in cut)
3 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup grapes juice or water
Pinch of salt
1tsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
Pinch of black pepper powder
1 tsp lemon juice

*Other Ingredients:
Oil for frying
Vanilla ice cream

*Making the Black Grape Sauce:
In a saucepan add all ingredients
And mix well
Cook for 5 minutes on medium high flame until thick and glossy

*Making Batter:
In a blender add All purpose flour along with other batter ingredients
Blend for 2-3 minutes, or until just combined well into smooth batter.
Fill the prepared batter into a large squeeze bottle.
Heat oil for deep frying in a wide mouth pan.
Once oil has reached frying point
Place a ring mould in the pan and squeeze batter into it
Spread the batter in a circular motion repeatedly to form the cake.
Fry until the both sides are golden brown,
Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
Transfer to a serving plate and top up with black grape sauce and place a dollop of vanilla ice cream over it.
