More Gulf carriers suspend Kuwait flights as Qatar Airways joins growing list of cancellations
Air travel to and from Kuwait continues to face mounting disruption, with more Gulf airlines suspending services as regional security concerns and operational challenges persist. The latest carrier to halt flights is Qatar Airways, joining a growing list of airlines that have either cancelled or reduced services to Kuwait in recent days.
Qatar Airways announced the temporary suspension of flights to Kuwait, while also offering affected passengers flexible rebooking and refund options under its travel advisory. Although the airline has not confirmed a firm date for the resumption of Kuwait services, it has advised travelers to monitor official updates as the regional situation remains fluid.
The latest move comes as several major Gulf carriers have already scaled back operations to Kuwait:
- Emirates has cancelled flights between Dubai and Kuwait and has announced that services to Kuwait are expected to resume from August 1, after extending cancellations through July 31.
- Etihad Airways has cancelled selected flights between Abu Dhabi and Kuwait, with operations expected to gradually resume from July 22, subject to operational and security conditions.
- Air Arabia has suspended flights to Kuwait on July 20 and 21, with services currently expected to resume from July 22, pending further developments.
The disruptions come amid heightened regional tensions that have prompted airlines across the Gulf to reassess flight schedules, reroute aircraft and suspend operations to destinations considered at elevated risk. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has also reinstated its advisory recommending airlines avoid operating in the airspace over Kuwait and several neighboring Gulf countries until at least July 29, citing the risk of military activity and possible misidentification of civilian aircraft.
Kuwait’s own carriers have also been affected. Kuwait Airways has been rescheduling flights following recent airspace disruptions, while Jazeera Airways has repeatedly advised passengers to check the status of their bookings before travelling to the airport.
Airport authorities and airlines continue to stress that schedules remain subject to change at short notice. Passengers travelling to or from Kuwait are advised to verify the latest flight status with their airline before departing for the airport, as further operational adjustments remain possible depending on the evolving regional security situation.
