Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs rebranded as Ministry of Islamic Affairs

The decree stated that all rights, obligations, and employees of the authority will transfer to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, with staff retaining their grades, salaries, and benefits.

As per the new decree, no official or civil entity may print the Holy Quran or import any version of it without prior authorization from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

Decree No. 8 of 2025 was issued, amending the decree governing the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. The decree stipulates that the ministry will be renamed the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, as reflected in the decree and all related legislation. The change will take effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette, according to Al Qabas newspaper.

In a related context, Decree-Law No. 3 of 2025 was issued, repealing Law No. 10 of 2011, which established the General Authority for the Care of Printing and Publishing the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) and their Sciences.

The decree stated that “all rights and obligations of the authority and their sciences shall be transferred to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. Employees of the authority shall also be transferred to the ministry, retaining their current grades, salaries, and financial benefits.”

The third article specifies that no official or civil entity may print the Holy Qur’an or import any version of it without prior authorization from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
