Ministers Al-Ajeel, Al-Huwailah inspect central operations room to boost market monitoring

In a joint move to reinforce market oversight and ensure consumer protection, Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Al-Ajeel and Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah conducted a field inspection of the Ministry of Commerce’s central operations room, a hub that plays a pivotal role in real-time monitoring of Kuwait’s market activity.

The advanced operations room is linked directly to the Ministry of Interior through a live transmission system, enabling instant communication and coordination between enforcement and security authorities. This integration enhances the state’s capability to respond promptly to violations and irregularities in the market.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Minister Al-Ajeel underscored that preserving market stability is a collective national responsibility, requiring unified efforts across government sectors. He reaffirmed that inspection teams from the ministry are working around the clock, intensifying efforts to ensure compliance with commercial regulations and protecting consumer rights.

During the visit, both ministers received briefings on the operational mechanisms of the chamber and on the reports submitted by field teams. Minister Al-Ajeel stressed the importance of readiness and constant coordination with relevant entities to monitor food markets, ensure the availability of essential goods, and support price stability.

He also called on the Ministry of Social Affairs to urge cooperative societies to fully cooperate with the central operations room, in order to facilitate surveillance and guarantee efficient movement and tracking of goods. This coordination, he noted, will preserve each institution’s role while contributing to a seamless, institutionally responsible oversight framework.

Al-Ajeel assured the public that Kuwait’s strategic food stockpile remains stable, and markets are witnessing ample supply levels sufficient to meet current demand. He concluded by stating that the situation is fully under control, in accordance with pre-established emergency and logistics plans.
