MEW begins fiber optic cable project between main substations

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has announced the start of a project to extend fiber optic cables between existing main electricity substations as part of Kuwait’s national development plan to modernize infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of its communications and control systems.

The ministry said the project will involve excavation and backfilling works from July 26 to August 1, 2026, at designated locations announced through its official account on the X platform.

It reassured the public that the construction activities will not affect the continuity of electricity services, emphasizing that power supply will continue uninterrupted throughout the implementation period.

According to the ministry, the project forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s electricity infrastructure and improve the reliability and performance of its network management systems.
