Kuwait takes part in SCO Development Bank consultations in China

Kuwait has participated in the fourth round of consultations on the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Development Bank, held in Shenzhen, China, focusing on the proposed institution’s legal, financial, and operational framework.
According to Kuwaiti Embassy Counselor Abdulaziz Al-Dakheel, participants from SCO member and partner states reviewed key elements of the bank’s structure, including its governance model, financing mechanisms, and its expected role in supporting infrastructure projects and sustainable development initiatives.
He said discussions also covered the bank’s potential contribution to enhancing economic integration among participating countries, in addition to reviewing the completion of foundational documents ahead of their submission to the relevant authorities in accordance with the agreed timeline.
The consultations further addressed the next procedural and technical steps required to advance the project, including continued coordination among participating states on organizational and administrative arrangements.
Al-Dakheel noted that Kuwait’s participation reflects its commitment to engaging in multilateral economic and financial initiatives and strengthening its presence in regional and international forums in support of national interests and broader cooperation with friendly and partner countries.
