Dr. Al-Huwailah warns ‘no leniency for absenteeism’, orders probe

. . . after surprise inspection at Raqqa Unit

Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah has ordered the referral of several employees at the Social Unity Center in Al-Raqqa for investigation following a surprise inspection that revealed absenteeism and failure to adhere to official working hours.

The unannounced visit, conducted as part of the Ministry’s ongoing field monitoring program, uncovered lapses in attendance, with a number of supervisors reportedly absent from their posts during working hours.

The Minister stressed that there would be no leniency in enforcing attendance regulations, reaffirming that accountability applies to all employees without exception.

Dr. Al-Huwailah said that improving the quality of social services begins with discipline, commitment, and professionalism, noting that strict adherence to working hours is essential to ensuring efficient service delivery to citizens.

During the visit, she reviewed operational procedures at the center, assessed service levels provided to beneficiaries, and engaged with both employees and service recipients to identify operational challenges and development needs.

The Ministry confirmed that appropriate legal and administrative action will be taken against those found in violation of workplace regulations, in line with efforts to enhance institutional performance and strengthen oversight mechanisms across social service units.

The Minister also reiterated that unannounced field visits will continue across all Ministry sectors to monitor workflow, identify shortcomings, and implement corrective measures aimed at improving service efficiency.

In a separate engagement, Dr. Al-Huwailah met citizens during the Ministry’s weekly open-door session, where she listened to requests and concerns.
