Kuwait sees 34 percent drop in traffic fatalities in first half of 2025

A major contributor to the outcome has been the Traffic Awareness Department, headed by Colonel Fahad Ibrahim Al-Essa, which led a wide-reaching media campaign.

A senior security said traffic accident fatalities in Kuwait saw a notable decline during the first half of 2025, with 94 deaths recorded between January 1 and June 30, compared to 143 deaths during the same period in 2024.

The source attributed this positive trend to several key factors, most notably the recent amendments to the traffic law, implemented as part of national efforts to enhance road safety; advancements in Kuwait’s smart traffic and security system, which has helped monitor violations and curb dangerous driving behavior and the increased public commitment, with both citizens and residents showing greater compliance with traffic rules and regulations, reports Al-Anba daily.

The official emphasized that this improvement is a direct result of community cooperation with security authorities, reflecting a growing societal understanding of the state’s goals to protect lives and minimize accident-related losses.

The official added, efforts to strengthen the traffic system continue, including raising operational efficiency and promoting traffic safety culture across all age groups.

The source also highlighted the importance of shared responsibility in maintaining road safety, calling for sustained public involvement and awareness.

A major contributor to the outcome has been the Traffic Awareness Department, headed by Colonel Fahad Ibrahim Al-Essa, which led a wide-reaching media campaign.

This initiative began before the amended law came into force on April 22 and continued afterward, focusing especially on young drivers.

The campaign utilized TV, radio, social media, and on-the-ground outreach through lectures and meetings in schools and universities to reinforce the importance of traffic compliance.
