Kuwait enters ‘Al-Marzam’ on July 29, signals hottest stretch of Kuwait summer

Kuwait will enter the “Al-Marzam” season on Wednesday, July 29, marking the penultimate phase of the summer season and the onset of the year’s most intense heat, according to the Al-Ujairi Scientific Center.
The center said the 13-day season, which runs until August 10, is characterized by persistent high temperatures and intense ground heat, a period traditionally known as “Jamrat Al-Qaydh” (the peak of summer heat).
The center explained that Al-Marzam represents a new stage in Kuwait’s summer cycle and will be followed by the “Kulaibin” season, which typically brings higher humidity levels across the country.
The subsequent arrival of the “Suhail” season is widely regarded as the first indication that the extreme summer heat is beginning to subside.
The center also noted that Thursday, July 30, marks the start of the annual date harvest season.
Al-Marzam derives its name from the star Sirius, known in Arabic as Al-Marzam, which is the brightest star visible in the night sky and is distinguished by its exceptional brilliance.
