Kuwait embraces Georgian culture with IWG’s stunning cultural showcase

The event, themed ‘Women’s Role in the History of Georgia and their Contribution as Ambassadors for Peace,’ gathered Kuwait’s diplomatic community, officials, and the members of International Women’s Group for an unforgettable cultural experience.

H.E. Noshrevan Lomtatidze, Ambassador of Georgia to Kuwait, warmly welcomed the attendees and emphasized the invaluable role of women and mothers in Georgian culture as pillars of family, community, and peace-building.

The International Women’s Group (IWG), in partnership with the Embassy of Georgia in Kuwait, celebrated Georgias vibrant culture on January 26 with a “Georgian Cultural Day” at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The event, themed “Women’s Role in the History of Georgia and their Contribution as Ambassadors for Peace,” gathered Kuwait’s diplomatic community, officials, and IWG members for an unforgettable cultural experience.

Guests were warmly welcomed with an impressive array of Georgian traditions displayed at various booths. Handmade wool scarves, intricate accessories, and designs by renowned Georgian fashion designers offered a glimpse into the nation’s artistic flair. A stunning photo exhibition highlighted Georgia’s breathtaking landscapes and historic architecture, immersing attendees in the country’s visual splendor.

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Polina Dalmini, IWG President and wife of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Eswatini, thanked the Embassy of Georgia and IWG member Mrs. Marika Kochlamazashvili, wife of the Georgian Ambassador, for organizing the event and delivering an enlightening presentation about famous Georgian women.

H.E. Noshrevan Lomtatidze, Ambassador of Georgia to Kuwait, warmly welcomed the attendees and thanked Mrs. Dalmini and the IWG Executive Board for their efforts in making the day possible. In his remarks, the ambassador emphasized the invaluable role of women and mothers in Georgian culture as pillars of family, community, and peacebuilding.

Mrs. Marika Kochlamazashvili, spouse of the Georgian Ambassador, then delivered an enlightening presentation about the extraordinary contributions of Georgian women throughout its history.

The cultural feast continued with an audiovisual presentation that showcased Georgia’s natural beauty and vibrant way of life. Next came the stunning traditional dances performed by the “Georgia” dance ensemble, which mesmerized all in attendance.

Guests marveled at the electrifying energy of the mountain region dance, Khevsuruli, the elegance of the Georgian wedding dance, and the rhythmic grace of the Osuri dance. Each performance showcased unmatched athleticism and incredible elegance, reflecting centuries of tradition and artistry.

Adding an interactive touch, a masterclass on making “Churchkhela,” Georgia’s traditional sweet, drew enthusiastic participation from the guests. Under the guidance of Mrs. Kochlamazashvili, guests took part in crafting the beloved treat, gaining hands-on experience of Georgia’s culinary traditions.

The event continued with a commemorative award ceremony, lively raffles, and, finally, a sumptuous buffet lunch featuring many wonderful Georgian specialties, bringing a delicious end to an outstanding cultural journey.

As the guests departed, they carried with them not only their gifts of beautiful handmade Georgian shawls but also a deeper appreciation for Georgia’s rich and colorful cultural heritage and the vital role of women as ambassadors of peace and unity.
