Kuwait’s ‘Ride the Rail’ power plant project set for launch

The ‘Ride the Rail’ power plant will provide a production capacity of about 1,500 MW, as part of efforts to implement effective measures to prevent potential power outages and scheduled cuts due to challenges posed by increasing electricity demand.

As part of the governments initiative to upgrade the electrical system and boost production capacity, Al Rai newspaper has learned that the power plants project, featuring the independent supplier system Ride the Rail,is in its final stages and will soon be launched.

Last October, the Council of Ministers emphasized the need to develop the electrical system, enhance electricity production capacity, and involve the private sector in establishing and operating power plants under the independent power supply system.

It is expected that the ministry will proceed with this project through a memorandum of understanding, prepared in collaboration with a private sector company, to act as a supporting electricity supplier in the country, pending approvals from the relevant authorities.

The plant, for which the memorandum of understanding is being finalized, will provide a production capacity of about 1,500 MW, as part of efforts to implement effective measures to prevent potential power outages and scheduled cuts due to challenges posed by increasing electricity demand.
