The project, covering 10,000 square meters and costing 4.42 million dinars, will be completed and operational by the first quarter of 2025.
• The Kuwait Cooperative Center for Student Camps, a key scientific landmark, will host about 1,500 students for various activities and camps, making it one of the most important initiatives for the people of Kuwait.
Dr. Khaled Al-Ajami, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Chairman of the National Cooperative Projects Committee, announced that the Kuwait Cooperative Center for Student Camps and Programs, supervised by the ministry in collaboration with the Environment Public Authority and the Ministry of Education, is 80% complete. He expects the project to be fully finished and operational by the first quarter of 2025.
Al-Ajami told Al-Jarida newspaper that “the total financial cost of the project, which spans an area of 10,000 square meters, amounts to approximately 4.42 million dinars. This generous donation comes from the National Cooperative Projects Committee, which has consistently affirmed its national role in supporting development projects that benefit the community.” He noted that the project site is located in Jahra Reserve, with an 18-month implementation period.
Al-Ajami emphasized that the project is considered a scientific landmark and one of the most important initiatives needed by the people of Kuwait. It will accommodate about 1,500 students for their activities and camps.
He explained that the project’s goal is to utilize students’ free time effectively, guiding them to benefit from science and technology, and providing training in crafts and simple industries.
The project’s construction area covers approximately 12,000 square meters and includes an administrative building, a multi-purpose hall, a theater, a restaurant seating 250 people, a student rest area, a heavy workshop building, and playgrounds. He added that the project will also host Gulf, Arab, and regional scientific exhibitions, conferences, and competitions.
“The center will serve Kuwaiti students at all educational stages, providing a conducive scientific environment with all the factors necessary for creativity and excellence. It will foster high-quality programs and activities to elevate students’ scientific, educational, and skill levels,” he concluded.
Legal action against cooperatives and suppliers over violations
On another matter, the Ministry of Social Affairs confirmed that it has taken all legal measures against any party found involved in violations by cooperatives or suppliers to them. The ministry is currently investigating a complaint filed by a citizen regarding the vegetable and fruit branches, which are under close monitoring by the competent authorities.
The ministry stated that “these actions are in response to direct instructions from Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, the Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, who stressed the importance of handling such complaints seriously to ensure the integrity of work in cooperative societies.”
It pointed out that they are coordinating with regulatory authorities to verify the validity of the complaint and are committed to taking all necessary measures to protect the funds of cooperative associations and their shareholders.
“We aim to form a joint committee with concerned government agencies to strengthen control over this vital sector and ensure compliance with laws and regulations, thus protecting consumer rights and promoting transparency,” the ministry added.
