Seven Egyptian nationals, reported to be members of the same family including children, died after their vehicle plunged into a water canal in the Giza Governorate, west of Cairo, in a tragic road accident.
According to Egyptian security sources, the incident occurred in the Marioutiya Canal area of Badrashin when the driver reportedly lost control of the steering wheel, causing the car to veer off the road, overturn, and fall directly into the canal.
Emergency services were immediately alerted, prompting a rapid response from police forces, river rescue teams, and ambulance units, all of which rushed to the scene to carry out recovery operations.
Rescue teams managed to retrieve the submerged vehicle from the canal and recover the bodies of all seven victims from inside the car.
Preliminary investigations indicate that loss of control was the primary cause of the crash, although authorities have stressed that inquiries are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The victims were later identified as belonging to a single family, deepening the tragedy of the accident, which has shocked local communities.
Their bodies were transferred to the relevant forensic and medical authorities, while a formal report was filed and the public prosecution has launched further investigations into the case.
