Kuwait braces for scorching summer with temperatures expected to exceed 52°C

Despite skepticism around long-term weather forecasting, several meteorologists are warning that Kuwait may face an exceptionally hot summer this year, with average temperatures predicted to surpass those of previous years — potentially reaching over 52 degrees Celsius.
Bader Al-Omara, a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, explained to Al-Rai that multiple factors are contributing to this anticipated heatwave.
These include the absence of spring rainfall, a surge in dust from northwesterly winds, and persistent high-pressure systems.
He also pointed to the ‘heat dome’ effect — a phenomenon where descending and ascending air masses trap heat — intensifying both the actual and perceived temperatures, particularly as the sun stands directly over the Tropic of Cancer.
