Indian Engineer’s Family Seeks Justice as Kuwait CID Pursues Second Suspect in Al-Salmi Desert Death

Months-long CID investigation uncovers alleged cover-up after fatal desert accident; one suspect arrested as authorities pursue second accused believed to have fled Kuwait.

The family of a 29-year-old Indian engineer whose body was discovered buried in Kuwait’s Al-Salmi desert is demanding justice after fresh details emerged about the circumstances surrounding his death, while Kuwaiti authorities continue efforts to apprehend a second suspect believed to have fled the country.

The victim, Kailash, a native of Koratpally Thanda in Telangana’s Nizamabad district, had travelled to Kuwait in search of better employment opportunities and was working as a mechanical engineer in the Al-Salmi area.

According to information that has surfaced from his hometown in India, Kailash had recently become acquainted with a father-and-son duo from the same region who were also residing in Kuwait. On March 19, the pair allegedly took him to a remote desert location to repair a malfunctioning excavator.

Investigators believe Kailash died during the repair operation after a workplace accident. Instead of reporting the incident to authorities, the two men allegedly panicked, buried his body in the Al-Salmi desert and concealed the incident out of fear of legal consequences.

Kailash’s disappearance prompted relatives in Kuwait to file a missing person complaint. However, the investigation reportedly progressed slowly during a period of heightened regional security concerns. As the inquiry continued, officers from Kuwait’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) examined surveillance footage and gathered evidence that ultimately led them to one of the suspects.

The suspect was arrested and, during questioning, allegedly confessed to the crime and directed investigators to the burial site in the Al-Salmi desert, where the victim’s remains were recovered. The breakthrough enabled authorities to solve what had remained a months-long missing persons mystery.

Kuwaiti investigators have since confirmed that a second suspect is believed to have left the country before the case was uncovered. Security authorities are continuing efforts to locate the individual through international legal channels and coordinate with relevant agencies to secure his arrest.

Meanwhile, the case has sent shockwaves through Kailash’s native village in Telangana. According to Indian media reports, one of the accused, identified as Ganesh, is believed to have returned to India without initially attracting suspicion. After learning the circumstances surrounding Kailash’s death, his family approached police in Nizamabad seeking legal action against those responsible.

Indian authorities have reportedly registered a complaint and are gathering information while remaining in contact with the victim’s family. The family has appealed to both the Indian and Kuwaiti governments to ensure all those involved are brought to justice.

The case has highlighted the serious legal consequences of concealing workplace fatalities and disposing of a body to evade criminal liability. Kuwaiti authorities have reaffirmed that investigations remain ongoing, with forensic examinations and judicial procedures continuing as they work to complete the case and bring the remaining suspect before the courts.

The tragic death of the young engineer has drawn widespread attention in both Kuwait and India, underscoring the importance of timely reporting workplace incidents and reinforcing legal protections for expatriate workers across the country.
