Illegal resident runs over soldier, abandons liquor-filled car in Abu Halifa

Security forces arrested the suspect within 15 minutes of his foot escape, revealing his false identity as a ‘Bedoon’ with a criminal record through fingerprint analysis.

• The injured soldier was taken to Al-Adan Hospital for treatment, and the suspect was charged with attempted murder, evading arrest, and running over a security officer.

An illegal resident was charged with attempted murder and evading security after Ahmadi police arrested him for running over a soldier in Abu Halifa and fleeing, leaving behind a car filled with alcohol intended for sale, Al Rai newspaper reported.

According to reports, during a routine inspection tour to maintain security, a night patrol unit from Ahmadi Security Operations Support suspected a vehicle and signaled its driver to stop for an identity check. However, the driver refused to comply. As the patrol leader stepped out, the suspect ran him over and fled, abandoning the vehicle.

A security source told the newspaper that upon inspecting the car, officers discovered imported bottles of alcohol. A support force was then dispatched to cordon off the Abu Halifa area, with the presence of Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Security Sector, Major General Hamad Al-Munaifi, and Acting Director General of Ahmadi Security, Brigadier General Hussein Dashti.

The source added that security forces arrested the suspect within 15 minutes as he attempted to flee on foot. When questioned, he provided false information, but an optical inquiry and the Public Security Sector’s modern fingerprint device confirmed that he was a ‘Bedoon’ with a criminal record.

The injured soldier was transferred to Al-Adan Hospital, where a medical report confirmed he had sustained multiple injuries. Upon notifying the investigator, a case was registered against the suspect for attempted murder, running over a security officer on duty, and evading arrest. Legal action was taken, and he was referred to the relevant authorities for further proceedings.
