Muhammad Al-Sindan, Director of Public Relations and spokesperson for Kuwait Municipality, confirmed that the decision to remove event tents (wedding halls) across all governorates will take effect on March 1, Al Rai newspaper reported.

Al-Sindan said in a press statement that the removal decision was made due to the misuse of temporary wedding hall licenses, which were originally intended to serve as a social service for citizens to host their events.

He emphasized that citizens’ concerns regarding their planned occasions were taken into account, noting that anyone with an upcoming event can apply to the municipality for a special license in accordance with Kuwait Municipality’s existing regulations.

He expressed appreciation for the cooperation of temporary event hall owners in voluntarily complying with the removal decision, highlighting their strong collaboration with the municipality’s field teams. He urged them to complete the removal process within the current week, ahead of the final deadline set by the Kuwait Municipality.

He concluded by affirming that the municipality’s inspection teams will not hesitate to enforce the removal of event tents starting March 1, in line with the official decision for their permanent removal. He added that the inspection teams are fully prepared to carry out the process next Saturday.
