Hawalli garages shut down over vehicle repair, tire and spare-parts violations
A joint inspection campaign in Hawalli has uncovered a string of violations at several garages, prompting authorities to pull down shutters of offending establishments and take legal action against those responsible.
The joint inspection campaign was carried out by the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department of the Hawalli Governorate Inspection Department, in cooperation with the General Traffic Department.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the violations included repairing vehicles involved in traffic accidents and changing vehicle colors without obtaining the required written approval from the Ministry of Interior.
Inspectors also found garages in possession of and selling used tires, while some had failed to display a clear schedule showing warranty periods for new, repaired and used spare parts.
Reports were filed against the violating garages, and the prescribed legal measures were taken against those responsible in coordination between the competent authorities of the two ministries.
