IBPC hosts session on ‘Geopolitics and Business: What Has Changed in the GCC?’

The Indian Business and Professional Council, Kuwait (IBPC), organized an insightful session on “Geopolitics and Business: What Has Changed in the GCC?” at the Millennium Hotel & Convention Centre, Salmiya.

The session was attended by eminent members of Kuwait’s Indian business and professional community, including senior business leaders, entrepreneurs, finance professionals and representatives from diverse sectors. The distinguished gathering reflected the strong interest of the business community in understanding the evolving geopolitical landscape and its impact on the GCC economy.

The session was delivered by M. R. Raghu, CEO of Marmore MENA Intelligence and Economic Advisor to Kuwait Financial Centre (Markaz). Raghu is a respected GCC economist and financial-markets professional with extensive experience in investment management, capital markets, risk management, economic analysis, asset management and energy markets.

The program was opened by Sunit Arora, Joint Secretary, IBPC Kuwait, who welcomed the members, distinguished guests and participants. Dr. Kaizar T. Shakir, Chairman, IBPC Kuwait, addressed the gathering and highlighted the increasing relevance of geopolitical developments to trade, investment, markets and business confidence across the GCC. The event was also attended by IBPC Vice-Chairman Gaurav Oberoi, Secretary Suresh K. P., and Treasurer Krishan Suryakanth.

In his presentation, Raghu examined the changing geopolitical environment and its implications for the GCC. He noted that while the region has demonstrated resilience, businesses must prepare for sustained volatility. The discussion covered supply-chain resilience, financing conditions, insurance and risk costs, cash-flow planning, and the need for scenario-based risk management.

The presentation was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session, with participants discussing practical steps that Kuwait-based businesses can take to strengthen operational continuity and manage geopolitical risk. The active participation of the distinguished audience contributed to a meaningful and engaging exchange of views.
Eight copies of Raghu’s book, Blueprint for Billions: Mastering India’s Equity Market, were distributed to attendees through a draw. Dr. Kaizar T. Shakir presented a memento to Raghu on behalf of IBPC Kuwait in appreciation of his valuable contribution.
The event concluded with photographs involving the speaker, Chairman, IBPC Executive Committee and all the participants, followed by dinner and networking. The gathering provided an excellent opportunity for members and guests to exchange ideas, strengthen professional relationships and engage with leading figures from Kuwait’s business and professional community.
