Gulf Red Crescent Societies unite in Kuwait to boost humanitarian cooperation

Kuwait recently hosted a vital meeting of senior officials from the Gulf Red Crescent societies, culminating in full consensus on key decisions and a unified strategy to address growing humanitarian needs across the region.
Amid intensifying crises, effective Gulf coordination has become more essential than ever, said Fahad Al-Mandil, Secretary-General of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society.
Mandil remarked, “The challenges we face today require unity and strategic Gulf coordination to respond effectively to humanitarian demands. As we gather, we also remember our colleagues who gave their lives in service of this noble cause.”
Held at the St. Regis Hotel, the meeting focused on enhancing cooperation and aligning efforts among the Gulf Red Crescent societies. A key agenda item was the implementation of strategic humanitarian and relief plans through 2025.
Abdullah Al-Rubaie, Head of the Human and Environmental Affairs Sector at the GCC General Secretariat, opened the meeting by emphasizing the continued importance of regional collaboration in humanitarian work.
He commended the dedication and sacrifices of the Red Crescent societies and praised their successful field responses, made possible through coordinated strategies.
The meeting also addressed upcoming humanitarian initiatives in critical areas such as Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Sudan.
Al-Mandil called for intensified joint efforts to meet the urgent needs in these regions, stating, “We are confronting unprecedented challenges. The suffering of our brothers in Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, and Lebanon places a greater responsibility on our shoulders.”
He also advocated for reinforcing unified Gulf coordination mechanisms, noting that previous experiences have shown the value of integrated efforts in producing tangible, real-world outcomes.
During the session, Al-Mandil paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the line of humanitarian service, particularly members of the Palestine Red Crescent Society. “Humanitarian work is full of sacrifices, and we must always honor those who laid down their lives for this noble mission,” he said.
The meeting reaffirmed the Gulf Red Crescent societies’ strong commitment to shared humanitarian values and demonstrated their continued dedication to collaborative action in addressing the region’s most urgent needs.
