FIFA World Cup ticket resale prices slide sharply amid weak early demand

Resale prices for FIFA World Cup tickets have continued to decline sharply as organizers face what appears to be softer-than-expected demand ahead of the tournament kickoff on June 11.

Secondary market platforms such as StubHub, Vivid Seats, and SeatGeek have all reported significant drops in “get-in” prices, with the cheapest available tickets falling across multiple fixtures in recent weeks.

In several cases, group-stage matches, including high-demand games such as the United States opener, are now being listed below their original face value, signaling a cooling in early resale activity.

Market tracking data from TicketData.com highlights steep month-on-month declines in specific fixtures, with prices for the USA vs Türkiye match falling by 46 percent, while Australia vs Türkiye tickets dropped by as much as 60 percent.

Analysts say the trend reflects an oversupply in the secondary market combined with uneven fan demand, particularly for early-stage matches that typically attract lower pricing interest compared to knockout rounds.

Despite the broader decline, the pricing picture is not uniform across all categories of tickets.

Ultra-premium and VIP hospitality packages for the final match, scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, continue to command exceptional valuations on the resale market, according to news reports.

Some listings for luxury seating have reportedly reached as high as $2.3 million, highlighting a sharp contrast between mass-market ticket depreciation and elite-tier demand.
