
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed that Gulf nations must have full and unhindered access to international waters, underlining that freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz should be safeguarded in line with established international rules.
During his address at the opening of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Erdogan drew attention to the strategic sensitivity of the strait, which lies between Iran and Oman, stressing the importance of maintaining uninterrupted maritime traffic, particularly for commercial shipping.
He also highlighted the importance of capitalizing on the current ceasefire between the United States and Iran, calling on all sides to prioritize dialogue and diplomatic engagement as the most effective path toward achieving lasting regional stability, reports Al-Anba daily.
Erdogan noted that recent tensions have accelerated international efforts to develop alternative routes for transporting energy resources, reaffirming Turkey’s willingness to collaborate with neighboring countries on energy cooperation and infrastructure connectivity.
Addressing the situation in Syria, he emphasized that restoring peace and stability there is crucial for the region’s future, reiterating Turkey’s continued support for the Syrian people.
