The foreign ministers of the G7 group called on Iran on Monday to stop arming and supporting the Houthis in Yemen, saying it represents a dangerous pattern of escalation that threatens to undermine international trade and lead to global instability.
The foreign ministers of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States said in a statement issued after a meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, “We condemn in the strongest terms the continued and unacceptable attacks by the Houthis in Yemen against Saudi Arabia.”
They added: “We call on the Houthis to immediately cease all military actions, threats and attacks on civilian ships, and to return to the political process in good faith.”
