GTD campaign records 3,615 violations in 24 hours

The General Traffic Department carried out a nationwide traffic campaign as part of ongoing efforts to improve road discipline and curb violations, recording 3,615 direct traffic offences within 24 hours.
According to statistics released by the Ministry of Interior, the campaign resulted in 296 violations involving trucks, while 179 motorists were cited for failing to use indicators when changing lanes. Another 154 violations involved the use of mobile phones while driving, and 82 motorists were caught speeding by radar.
The authorities also recorded 68 violations for failure to wear seat belts, 46 for illegal window tinting and nine related to improper towing. One violation was issued for failure to install a vehicle licence plate.
The campaign also recorded 837 other traffic violations, while 19 vehicles were impounded. Police also apprehended 12 individuals found to be in violation of residency regulations and provided 26 humanitarian assistance services.
At Al-Amiri and Al-Sabah hospitals, traffic officers recorded 55 violations involving motorists.
The statistics further showed that 15 wanted individuals were referred to the authorities for arrest and summons, execution of court judgments and residency-related cases.
In addition, four Kuwaitis were referred to police stations over negligence considered to pose a danger to others. Authorities also seized four vehicles wanted for judicial impoundment.
The campaign forms part of the Interior Ministry’s continuing efforts to enforce traffic regulations, improve road safety and address violations that endanger motorists and other road users.
