The Acting Director General of the Public Authority for People with Disabilities, Wafaa Al-Muhanna, confirmed that the “I am Talented 5” exhibition showcases the exceptional creativity of its participants, which is a source of pride and honor.

During her participation in the launch of the exhibition today, Tuesday, in celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3 under the slogan “Peace” Wafaa Al-Muhanna, emphasized that the exhibition is held under the patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah.

The event features the participation of five schools for people with disabilities and relevant official bodies.

Al-Muhanna told the Kuwait News Agency that the Authority is working to implement Law (8) of 2010, which aims to empower and integrate people with disabilities into various events, the local labor market, and others too.

Furthermore, Al-Muhanna added that Kuwait continues to implement all international agreements, particularly those regarding the rights of persons with disabilities, by harnessing resources and capabilities to develop skills and nurture the talents of individuals with disabilities.

Al-Muhanna noted that the exhibition provides a valuable opportunity to witness the exceptional creativity of participants from the concerned schools, which is a source of pride and honor.

Moreover, Al-Muhanna explained that the schools participating in the “Mawhoob 5” exhibition include: Al-Nabras School; Umm Al-Qura Center; Khalifa School; Al-Bayan International School; and Al-Raja School.

These institutions cater to individuals with various disabilities, including mental retardation, autism, motor impairments, and others, with over 50 participants.

The Director of the Vocational Rehabilitation Department at the Authority, Al Anoud Al Wazzan, stated that the fifth edition of the “I am Talented” exhibition showcases the achievements and talents of people with disabilities through their creative drawings and handicrafts.

This initiative helps raise awareness about the rights and contributions of this vital and accomplished group.

Al-Wazzan explained that the Authority has made significant progress in overcoming challenges, particularly the integration of people with disabilities into the local labor market.

This was achieved through the “Partners in Employing Them” initiative, carried out in strategic cooperation with the Human Development Association and the government and private sectors for the sixth consecutive year.

Al-Wazzan added that exhibitions and events like these play a key role in showcasing the capabilities of people with disabilities and their ability to achieve the impossible. This fosters societal adaptation to their needs and acceptance of their active and valuable presence.

Al-Wazzan expressed her gratitude to the Minister of Social Affairs for their patronage and to the educational institutions participating in the exhibition.

The Bahraini Ambassador to Kuwait, H.E. Salah Al-Maliki, highlighted during his attendance at the exhibition that Kuwait’s efforts, led by its official bodies, are evident in utilizing resources to support people with disabilities. These efforts align with the international community’s objectives, coinciding with the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Ambassador Al-Maliki stated that disability is not defined by physical limitations such as mobility, hearing, or vision impairments but by internal barriers that prevent individuals from pursuing their passions and ambitions.

On a concluding note, the Ambassador added that the dedication of families, educational institutions, and the Disability Authority reflects Kuwait’s pioneering role in supporting and empowering people with disabilities.
