Court sentences PACI official, expats in fake address fraud case

The court, chaired by Counselor Al-Dhuwaihi Al-Dhuwaihi, sentenced a Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) employee to five years in prison with hard labor and fined him 340 dinars after finding him guilty of accepting bribes and forging official records to alter registered residential addresses of expatriates in the authority’s database.

The court also handed four expatriates prison sentences of three years and four months with hard labor for their involvement in the forgery to be followed by deportation after serving the sentence.

According to court documents, the accused used forged lease agreements to transfer their official addresses to two residential properties without the knowledge or approval of the rightful occupants or property owners.
