Annual Ramadan Paralympic Games draw huge participation

The Kuwaiti Club for the Disabled concluded its annual Ramadan Championship for Disabled Games on Thursday evening at the club’s headquarters.
The event featured competitions in various sports with significant participation from the club’s male and female players as well as other disabled clubs.
In a statement to reporters, Shafi Al-Hajri, the club president, said after the conclusion of the tournament that it included competitions in wheelchair basketball for people with mobility disabilities, table tennis, fencing, weightlifting, and bocce for the blind. He congratulated the male and female players who won first place in the tournament.
Al-Hajri, who heads the tournament’s organizing committee, stressed that the club is keen on holding such local sports forums regularly to prepare national team players for upcoming foreign competitions. It is also an important opportunity to discover young talents, with Al-Hajri noting the distinguished organization of the club’s staff for the tournament.
He appreciated the sponsorship and the presence of the President of the Kuwaiti Youth Association, Sheikh Fahd Nayef Jaber Al-Sabah, as well as a number of national institutions and companies for the tournament. He praised the distinguished technical level demonstrated by the male and female players in various competitions.
The tournament’s results saw the “Stars” team, led by Kuwaiti basketball player for the disabled Abdullah Al-Khalidi, clinch the title in the wheelchair basketball competition for the mobility disability category.
The results of the “sitting” and “standing” table tennis competitions in several disability categories were as follows: Reem Al-Jahs, Anfal Al-Dhafiri, and Noura Yaqoub won in the women’s and girls’ category, while Munif Fahd, Hassan Ibrahim, Abdullah Hajji, Yaqoub Al-Qasim, and Fahd Al-Ansari claimed the title in the men’s and youth category competitions.
In the shooting competitions, Abdul Rahman Salem emerged victorious in the 10-meter air rifle shooting event for the motor disability category. Salman Al Majdi claimed the pistol shooting title for the same category, and Jarrah Asak secured the rifle shooting competition title in the blind category.
In the Bouchet competition for the blind, Maryam Al-Bannai took first place in the women’s category, while Muhammad Mejbil claimed the top spot in the men’s category.
Player Sulaiman Al-Tamimi secured title in the men’s fencing competition, while player Kholoud Al-Mutairi was crowned champion in the women’s category of the same event.
