Kuwait approves 5.52 million dinars in high-voltage grid maintenance

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has secured State Audit Bureau approval to implement two projects for the maintenance and repair of high-voltage transformer cables in Kuwait’s northern and southern regions, with a combined value of 5.520 million dinars. The projects form part of the Ministry’s early preparations to strengthen the readiness and reliability of the national electricity grid ahead of the summer season of 2027, when demand is expected to place greater pressure on network infrastructure.

The maintenance program is aimed at improving service reliability and continuity, enhancing the efficiency of electricity and water networks, and addressing potential faults before they develop into major disruptions. The work is also intended to reduce the risk of outages during periods of peak demand. Alongside the two projects, the Ministry has begun routine maintenance of electricity and water networks as part of its early preparations for next summer. Planned maintenance and repair works are also being carried out to improve the operational efficiency and readiness of equipment and facilities.

Ministry officials have also started preparing comprehensive plans to address the challenges of summer 2027, with particular attention to the maintenance of electricity and water production units, main and secondary substations, and high-voltage transmission lines. The preparations reflect the Ministry’s focus on completing maintenance work well ahead of the summer peak and strengthening the resilience of the networks to ensure stable and continuous services.
