Kuwait to welcome autumn with equal day and night hours on Sept 27

Kuwait will experience nearly equal hours of daylight and darkness on Sunday, September 27, marking the seasonal transition into autumn, according to the Al-Ujairi Scientific Center. The center said the astronomical summer ends on September 22, when the Sun’s rays are directly over the equator, leading to the autumnal equinox. At this point, day and night are approximately equal in length, while the Sun’s altitude at midday in Kuwait begins to decline.
Following the equinox, nighttime will gradually become longer while daylight hours shorten, continuing through the autumn and winter months.
The Al-Ujairi Scientific Center explained that the equinox occurs when the Sun crosses the Earth’s equator during the planet’s annual orbit around the Sun. This happens twice each year, around March 20, marking the spring or vernal equinox, and in late September, marking the autumnal equinox.
The center noted that the seasonal change results from the Earth’s tilt and its movement around the Sun, causing the Sun’s apparent position to shift between the northern and southern hemispheres throughout the year.
